Why harnessing network data is a strategic imperative for CSPs

For years, leaders have talked about unlocking the value of network data. Yet the gap between accurate data and turning it into business intelligence has remained wide. As customer activity across CSP networks produces vast volumes of information, the imperative is clear: data must drive the business.

AI is making that shift possible. AI transforms raw, sometimes unused network data into real-time insights. It improves commercial decision-making, highlights customer issues before they know, and unlocks significant cost reductions that were invisible or hard to move.

For CSPs, this means a fundamental change. Placing actionable data directly in the hands of B2C and B2B teams—and ultimately into the customer journey—has the power to unlock new value streams across the business. The CSPs who get this right will unlock a competitive advantage and generate more profits.

Why Data Is Hard to Contextualize

But the reality is that data in a CSP network is complex. Some data sources are structured: databases, CSVs, system logs, service assurance outputs. Others are highly unstructured: telemetry, chats, videos, emails, and voice streams from numerous network and customer touchpoints. The many data types need to be converted into combined strategic intelligence.

And that won’t happen on its own. Converting these heterogeneous sources into a unified, trustworthy intelligence layer requires a high-volume, high-performance data processing platform. It must ingest data at scale, transform it, enrich it, and ensure its readiness for AI automation and business consumption.

When data is clean and contextualized, AI models become not only possible, but scalable and accurate—capable of informing decisions in real time.

The Value of AI-driven Intelligence

We are already observing the possibilities with this data foundation. Real-time applications for AI analytics, such as Mycom’s AInsights and GenAie have proven how multi-source data can power critical 5G and fiber broadband network functions. These AI use cases can work at multiple user levels:

  • For Business Leaders: Identifying optimal investment paths and guiding strategic capital allocation.
  • For Operations Teams: Acting as an autonomous copilot, improving efficiency, reducing OpEx, and accelerating time to resolution.
  • For AI Engineers: Richer contextualization enhances the precision of agentic and predictive AI models.

To Deliver an Autonomous Network, the Data Must Be Accurate

The industry’s next frontier is network autonomy. CSPs are under immense pressure to reduce operating costs while improving customer experience at scale. The foundation of this data engine needs to be a single Performance Management (PM) and Fault Management (FM) engine and ideally a unified one. Once the data engine is in place and AI can act on unified intelligence, autonomous networks—powered by predictive and generative AI—become a natural evolution, not just a vision.

The results are already compelling. In a recent deployment, Mycom’s automation capabilities enabled a major mobile and fiber broadband CSP to automate more than 600,000 hours of consumer service operations and deliver over USD 6.5 million in annual cost avoidance. Alarm-handling automation cut processing time by 97%, unlocking USD 5 million in savings and delivering a better customer experience. Enterprise auto-ticketing delivered a 90% reduction in incident handling time and more than USD 1.2 million in yearly savings.

These outcomes are a direct result of connecting data, AI, and automation into one operational fabric.

The Strategic Imperative

In short, the data CSPs already possess is one of the most powerful untapped assets in the business. When accurate and converged into a real-time intelligent pipeline, it becomes the foundation for faster and confident business decisions, greater operational agility, and offers a clear path toward autonomous, self-optimizing networks.

For CSPs, focusing on data is no longer a technical priority; it is a strategic one.
